Lorenzi R. Marcos is the founder and author behind Minimal Control Lab — a project dedicated to producing educational materials on biological systems, behavior, environment, and homeostasis.

The work began from a simple observation: most popular frameworks for understanding behavior — in health, recovery, productivity, and education — underweight biology and environment, and overweight personality and willpower. The result is a culture that blames individuals for outcomes that are largely systemic.

Minimal Control Lab was built to offer a different starting point. Not a program. Not a method. A set of educational tools — books, resources, and consulting — grounded in what the evidence actually shows about how biological systems work, how environments shape behavior, and what adaptation looks like in practice.

The project is operated by Health Wise Trainer LLC. All content is educational. None of it constitutes medical advice, clinical diagnosis, or licensed health services.

Values

Clarity over persuasion

We describe systems. We do not sell solutions, transformations, or outcomes. The goal is understanding, not conversion.

Observation over ideology

What the evidence shows — not what we prefer, not what is convenient, not what sells. Observation precedes interpretation.

Biology before opinion

The body has logic. Behavior has biology. We start with what the organism does before we ask why we think it should do otherwise.

Environment before blame

Context shapes behavior. Always. Before attributing outcomes to personality, motivation, or willpower — examine the environment.

Responsibility without moralism

Understanding systems does not remove agency. It locates it more accurately — without the distortion of moral judgment.

Evidence without certainty

We work with what the evidence supports. We acknowledge what it does not. Uncertainty is not a weakness — it is precision.
